Animal Instincts School was designed to help reduce the number of animals abandoned to local animal shelters and left to starve on the streets. It is the belief that through education we can achieve this goal! Find out more about our dog trainer course!

We also offer information on cats and their particular behaviors!

On February 25th 2008, we took part in an adoptive parent program at the Granby Zoo by adopting Misha, an Amur Tiger! Amur Tigers are an endangered species and quite costly to keep in captivity. Misha eats on average 6-7 pounds of meat 6 days a week! On the 7th day, she gets a bone to chew. This bone helps to keep her teeth from accumulating too much tartar. Image the cost of feeding a tiger! Amur Tigers can grow to weigh up to 700 lbs making them the largest of the felines!

Granby Zoo’s adoptive parent program allows to spend extra money on the feeding and well being of the animals! We are excited in helping the conservation of endangered species!

To see first hand the preparations of the food for these beautiful animals was quite an exciting experience! We were honored to be able to walk in the tigers’ enclosure and place food and toys among their play area. Meat was placed in cardboard boxes with blood poured on top. Ice cubes with the taste of blood is a tasty and refreshing treat on a hot summer day for the tigers! These tiger popcicles are frozen in big yogurt containers as seen in the above left picture!
