On February 25th 2008, we took part in an adoptive parent program at the Granby Zoo by adopting Misha, an Amur Tiger! Amur Tigers are an endangered species and quite costly to keep in captivity. Misha eats on average 6-7 pounds of meat 6 days a week! On the 7th day, she gets a bone to chew. This bone helps to keep her teeth from accumalating too much tartar. Image the cost of feeding a tiger! Amur Tigers can grow to weigh up to 700 lbs making them the largest of the felines!

Granby Zoo's adoptive parent program allows to spend extra money on the feeding and well being of the animals! We are excited in helping the conservation of endangered species!
